It seems as though
trivialities prevail these days. Everyone’s eyes are on screens: phone screens,
tv screens, movie screens, computer screens, iPad screens, iPod screens; even
sunscreens seem to be more popular than gazing at a tree or the stunning
architecture of a building, while sunbathers face the blazing sun---eyes
closed, of course.
There is a dramatic
chasm between engaging in Life and numbing the spirit. I dare to add that
the majority of people have become increasingly sucked into the latter, while
the former is barely thriving. From my perspective, as I observe people “out
there”, 90% of them have their eyes on some kind of screen. I watch to see if
anybody is even noticing the
magnificence of spring bursting forth in multitudinous colors and
configurations, a smile that I might give them, a door that someone holds open
for them or the workmanship that someone has put into a beautiful fountain in
the center of a lovely park or a sculpture outside an office building. It is rare that
anyone pays any attention at all to anyone or anything, anymore…..except a screen.
So many people seem to be
inside of an envelope---a self-made, self-sealing envelope, with their own
stamp of approval on the outside, for all to see that they are serious---We are closed. If they were robots, I
could deal with that: Robots are not spirit, nor are they soul----nor is the
quality of their existence made manifest by frequency.
We are all the same, intrinsically. Many of us, though, seem to have detoured off of
Life’s path.
When people fade from Life,
disconnect from Nature, beauty, consideration for others, and from people themselves, they lose touch with
the essence of who they are. One
cannot connect with him or herself if they aren’t connecting with the world
around them.
When individuals connect with
something or someone outside of themselves, their entire being expands---especially
their consciousness. When I examine the
intricacies of a flower, my mind expands with awe, my heart expands with love, my
spirit expands with utter glee, and my soul expands in depth and breadth of
consciousness.
With every connection that you make with another person, you
grow. If that connection is a positive one, then your whole package---mind,
body, heart, soul and spirit---takes on a deeper understanding of Life and of who you are. If the connection is
difficult or downright horrible---as in having an argument with someone who cut
in line in front of you---you still take on a deeper understanding of Life, and
you still do expand; however, by not having taken the “high road” and sloughed
it off, the lesson for you will be difficult. Your consciousness will expand,
too, from your having had to learn a difficult lesson. So we all learn; it’s
just a matter of how easy or difficult we
choose to make the learning.
The more disconnected people
there are in the world, the more difficult it will become for everyone to be in this world. Remember:
Disconnecting spawns discomfort, discontentedness, discontinuity of living a
full life. It will disconcert people because they won’t understand Life or its purpose in their lives. It will
discourage, cause discord and put them on a path of discontinuation with Life,
with love, with tenderness, concern, care, respect, and possibly even integrity.
You may think I’m going off
the deep end here. But the truth of the matter is this: Once we start spiraling
down, further and further away from the nourishment that a healthy heart, mind,
soul and spirit provide for us, the harder it is to get back on track, in
alignment with That Which guides us toward a rewarding, fulfilling, purposeful
life: The All. And to access That Tap to the highest degree, we’ve got to
keep our frequency in good, soaring condition.
Set an example for your friends,
your children, family and all those with whom you come in contact. Always take
the high road, no matter how difficult ego will try to make it for you. Resist and
rise high.
